Drone Courses
The UK drone regulations came into force on 31 December 2020 and were updated in 1 January 2026.
We currently offer four drone courses:
Part 1 - A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC)
The A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) is a drone qualification that allows you to fly small drones “close to people”. Under the regulations, you can operate a drone commercially for the first time without needing to spend thousands of pounds on training and CAA Permissions.
A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) is now the first building block of a drone pilot training, for individuals wanting to start a drone business and organisations wanting to use drones commercially in their operations.
Our CAA A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) Course allows you to fast track becoming a Qualified Drone Pilot, from your own home. This will allow you to fly safe and legal as a qualified commercial Drone Pilot.
Part 2 - GVC Course
The online GVC course is a longer more in depth course consisting of online theoretical training and testing. Once complete the student needs to attend a CDTs testing location for the GVC flight test.

Online GVC Course
The theoretical part of the online GVC course can completed in the comfort of your own home on the device of your choosing.
As you work through the course you can test your knowledge with our free mock tests.
Once the course is complete you can choose to access the comprehensive 80 question mock test, completing this test will give you the confidence to undertake the online theory test with ease.
You are able to do the GVC 44-question multiple choice theory test on-line (invigilated by a CDT examiner using your webcam).
After the successful completion of the theoretical testing phase, a date and time for your GVC flight test will be organised.
Traditional GVC Ground School Course
Our traditional course is a 2-day classroom-based instructor led ground school course.
This course includes:
2-day ground school culminating with 44 question multiple choice theory test
Operations Manual writing workshop
GVC Flight training and testing
Practical flight planning overview
Help with online CAA application for Operational Authorisation
Learn to Fly a DJI Drone
In this course you will learn how to fly, operate and control a drone safely and with confidence in three hours.
It does not mater if you have not flown a drone before.
We offer the best basic online drone training for beginners, using Drone School Uk's experience of instructing over 5,000 students to fly on face to face half-day courses.
After you have completed the online drone flying course you will have seen and know about the latest DJI consumer drones. Featured in the online course are:
DJI Mavic Air 3
DJI Mini 3, 4 and 5

DJI Phantom 4 Pro
DJI Flipp, DJI Neo Neo 2 and Fly AppOn the course, you will learn to fly indoors on the DJI simulators before you fly for real.
You will learn how to fly the small DJI Tello drone indoors and really hone your flying skills. We teach you the UK drone flying rules and techniques for safe flying.
