Before we start with the A2CofC it is useful to know anyone with a camera drone that is not classed as a toy must have an operator ID.
To register for an operator ID please use link below:

- If you own and fly and drone under 250g (Mavic Mini 2) then the A2 CofC is of no use to you as you have freedoms in the open Category to fly. See table in CAP2012.
http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/CAP2012_EU_Drone_Rules_Factsheet_V7%207.pdf
- If you own a drone between 250g and 500g (DJI Spark) unless you have an A2CofC then you would have to fly it 150m horizontally away from residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas whilst remaining 50m separation from any uninvolved persons.
With a A2CofC you could fly it in residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas and as long as you do not fly directly overhead people you are good to go.
- If you own a drone between 500g and 2kg then unless you have an A2CofC then you would have to fly it 150m horizontally away from residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas whilst remaining 50m separation from any uninvolved persons.
With a A2CofC you could fly it in residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas but you may not fly closer than 50m horizontally from uninvolved persons.
- If you own a drone between 2kg and 25kg then you would have to fly it 150m horizontally away from residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas whilst remaining 50m separation from any uninvolved persons.
This (4) is very restrictive for heavier drones (Inspire 2) and you may wish to undertake a GVC course and apply for an operational authorisation from the CAA. This would allow you to fly a heavier drone within a residential, commercial, industrial and recreational areas whilst remaining 50m separation from any uninvolved persons.
